Because the Titan 7 group buy didn’t work out for the sizes I was interested in I ended up going my own direction.

My wheels are custom fabricated to the specs I wanted and took 6 weeks to manufacture from date of order.

I wanted a more aggressive stance while maintaining stock ride height. I went with a classic yet aggressive 10 spoke design. Wheel finish is brushed double dark tint so the details can be seen as opposed to black color.

Wheels are forged. Front wheel with tire weighs 47 lbs. Rear wheel with tire weighs 51 lbs.

Very nice.

How is the ride quality compared to the stock 20’s? I’m looking into a set of either VS01 or VS08 in 20” staggered setup in gloss brushed titanium. Thanks for posting cuz I wanted to see the ride height with stock performance suspension.

Looks like $300 off for Black Friday sale from VS Forged right now.

It was important for me to maintain the stock performance suspension because it is very good for daily driving. I have history with lowering springs, adjustable coil overs, and air suspension and I feel the stock 20s rode well, not harsh, very comfortable.

New setup feels the same, maybe a bit more comfy because the tires have a little more sidewall than stock. Road noise is a bit more noticeable because of the wider tires. Cornering on the streets and freeway feels more planted. Launching feels the same, maybe I shaved off a few hundredths of a second. I think my setup looks great with the stock performance suspension.

I forgot to mention in my post that the wheels are made to accommodate the P+ hubs. No spacers or rings required on my setup.

I’m very happy with my setup and the new aesthetics.

In case anyone is interested, I bought several sets of Vorsteiner VFF-107 wheels to inventory for Model 3 for Black Friday. If anyone is interested in a set, this might be a good time for you.

"Our lightweight technology produces wheels that are lighter in weight compared to a conventional cast construction, yet substantially stronger. the majority of surplus weight can be shaved by the use of less but stronger aluminum. In addition, we meticulously reduce the weight of the wheel utilizing back-pad pocketing as well as front and rear spoke pocketing." - Vorsteiner

The 107’s mesh design is a modern take on the classic mesh often seen in 70’s and 80’s era motorsports scene. Our modern take is an alternating mesh that combines two five-split spoke designs creating the mesh appearance.

HEY real quick one - do the brake disc hats have an assembly retainer / mounting screw that keeps the disc located flush on the hub when the wheel is taken off? Generic photo attached

I don't have my model 3 in front of me.

If it does, is the screw machined to be countersunk / flush... (like most cars these days) or does it protrude from the disc and potentially interfere with wheels that don't have machined pockets on the rear side to mount over the screw?

Just need to be sure. Getting conflicting info from a wheel seller. Is this a real issue or FUD to steer me toward buying his wheel?

Those look great. Weight for each wheel (20X9 and 20X10.5)? Price for four 20X9s?

Thanks for that image. Now I can't get it out of my head.

OMG ! why would Tesla do that? I know the answer: easier robotic assembly.

This ugly bolt is the least technically advanced aspect of the car.

Makes me want to take it out, countersink the hole (if it's not already) and put in a proper torx flathead machine screw, just on principle!

It's only an issue for aftermarket rims. Some of them don't have nice hollowed out allowances.

The bolt's not critical, it can come out and stay out. It's only for assembly purposes.
The 5 lugs torqued on at 129 ft/lb is more than enough holding power for keep the disc hat sandwiched on tight.
