Alternative to HomeLink module

I park my ‘23 MYP in the garage and drive my car several time a day. Like other Tesla owners, I hated seeing the ugly and dated remote clipped to the visor of the biggest piece tech that I own. I also really disliked the inconvenience of opening the center console and digging around every time I left or arrived home. I also couldn’t get myself to fork out $350 to retrofit a HomeLink module.

My solution (based on my 6 yr olds recommendation) was to attach it to back of the screen in my Model Y. So ingenious I’d thought I’d share it here. All you need is about 2” of double sided automotive tape and your garage door clicker.

Mounting it was simple.

1. Remove the clip/hook on the back of the remote. This will free up a large and flat surface needed to attach to the sceeen back.

2. Clean the back of the screen and back of the remote. I used IPA.

3. Put the double tape on the back of the remote

4. Peel, center, and stick. Hold in place for 30 seconds and your all set!

It’s perfectly hidden view (cannot see it unless you’re on the floor looking up), uber easy to access, and basically free.

Atraching pictures of this set up in the wife’s MYLR.

Cheers!
