Android App Data usage

Earlier today, I noticed something odd :

In the past month, the Tesla android app consumed more than 200mbyte of data on my cell phone... in the background!

About 50% of it is on Wifi.. the rest in on LTE...

Any clues what the app could be doing?!?

It is odd.
The iOS version does not use anything like that.
I have 111MB total over a 6 months period (since Nov 2015).

Hmm, I'll have to keep an eye out for that.

What version of Android are you running? Do you have the settings on data usage set to prefer WiFi? etc etc

I'm on 6.0.1, on a Nexus 6P. Restrict background data is off but WiFi is used by default... I'm about 50% of the time on Wifi so 50/50 of Wifi vs Cell data makes sense.

Mar 22 to Apr 22: Background 182MB and Foreground 8.44MB

That's a lot of MBs

Seems something happened late february early march that affected data usage

Checked mine too, Nexus 6P running 6.0.1. The most I saw was 30MB last cycle with the second highest being 18MB.
