Any improvement on build quality in recent years?

Has build quality been improving over the past 5 years?

  • Yes, it's much better. Comparable with a top legacy carmaker.

I've had a rough experience with regard to build quality with the used 2018 M3LR I bought in 2022. Ranging from minor annoyances like:

-clicking noises when opening the doors

-windows and door handles freezing in place in the winter

...to concerning things like:

-paint flaking off around wheel wells, leading to rust

-water somehow leaking into the rear trunk compartment

...to awful stuff like:

-brakes failing due to brake line corrosion

-battery needing to be replaced due to corrosion issues

Some of this is due to the previous owner living on a dirt road. Not an excuse, as most normal cars would have fared much better, but won't be an issue for me. Wondering if there's been any improvement in the build quality since 2018, or if it's still a major issue. I'm considering getting a new Model Y. Build quality seems to be a well known issue with Teslas, so I would hope they've made an effort to improve.
