Glad early reservation holders are getting filled.
I just checked my notes .I ordered March 26,2019
MY Red Performance white interior.
Still no Vin . I guess Red is on hold.
I just had to redo my Financing for the 2nd time. I promise won't do it again.
I woke up today with a certain clarity.
I don't care if I get a Vin today or Next week perhaps the longer the better quality (perhaps)
But I promise if Financing expires again im done.
Rule one never want something more that the seller

Lessons learned pre ordering means do do.
Im proof of that but as stated perhaps I'll get one without the quality issues.....or not as many.
I am spending 70k is that asking too much for a good paint job

I did the same thing a week ago - I said to myself that the moment Tesla requests me to redo my trade-in valuation 3rd time, I am cancelling the order instead. It's certainly a lesson learned.

I reserved (placed $2500 deposit) on 4/20.
I picked-up my car on 6/23.
I didn't want any delays so I paid cash and didn't add the hitch receiver.
I'm very happy with my Model Y and all of the stress was worth it. I was expecting it in late 2020 and I'm glad I got it.

Ordered mine May 18th 2020, took the delivery July 9th, 2020. VIN never got assigned until I called my delivery specialist. After receiving expect delivery June 28-30th text I have not received any updates afterwards. I called my delivery specialist and told him the situation his response was “Only limited amount of people receive that mass texts. You should’ve gotten yours already.”. then he went on to manual search their inventory he couldn’t find same config as my order (awd blk/blk/lr/19”) however he found me red/blk/awd/lr/19” & wht/blk/lr/awd19” both built end of June and asked me if I wanted any of those instead. I really wanted black exterior but didn’t want to wait forever knowing Tesla lacks in communication/updates so I told him I will go with White. While he was assigning that vehicle to me he received message (txt, email whatever they use to communicate within) from Tesla Fremont saying that they just released? (not exactly sure what that means) blk/blk/lr/awd/20” that was built 4 days ago. Took that in a heartbeat, he assigned that specific vehicle to me, my tesla account updated while i was on the phone with him vin, mvpa, etc got a call from delivery center to schedule pick up. So maybe those who has been waiting for awhile can call your delivery specialist and have them reach out to main tesla plant to see if they can assign you with matching or similar spec vehicle thats being built or already built just passing final QC because what I got from my delivery specialist is that the person who assigned the car for me (main plant) had access to inventories where dealer sales person & delivery specialist can not see. Good luck

Did you actually have a delivery specialist assigned? The only person I ever interacted with was someone doing trade-in assessment. Is that the same person?

I don’t know your circumstances, but IMHO the car is well worth the weird purchase experience and the wait. I’m a first-time Tesla person... it. is. amazing.

I felt a little apprehensive after reading all of the posts about built quality, etc., but didn’t really have any significant issues at all - or more specifically *any* issues.

I’m a very happy customer.

I have my delivery date 7 days after the vin and 12 months after my order, Red/white, 19's, awd, with trade and Tesla financing. I reminded myself that when I ordered in 2019, a fall 2020 delivery was anticipated. Early reservations have not done well probably due to the end of quarter push, but for me I am ok.

Well I just got off the New Jersey Turnpike needing gas .
I say I hate doing this .I fill up and decide heck ill just check my account and see whats up.
Phone rings heck, I've memorized that number a dozen times ..
Tesla is calling Me.
