Anyone know what this is?

I have a tab it appears that is pulled out under one side of my car right in the middle between from and rear doors at the under cariage. See the pic. On the other side of the car at same spot appears to be a tab but it is up flush under the car and you can’t see it.

Same thing happened to me 3 weeks ago, driver side. I don't know for sure what it is. It is a bolt cover

It looks ugly, how did you cover it up. Doesn’t seem to easily snap back up into place.

Mine snapped back but had clearly taken a beating and was a little deformed.
