I called Tesla Decatur today and they told me that they had moved my delivery to Alpharetta (was glad I called at the time, no communication otherwise) and that Decatur was too cramped. They also told me they are getting more 3s on Saturday morning, 9/22.

Mine is supposed to be one of those on Saturday morning. Fingers crossed!

Happy for all you guys getting your 3s this week and next. I keep thinking, mine MUST be the next MSM AWD non-P black interior with areas and EAP coming off the truck!

Thankfully I’ve got everything under control. I only check my Tesla account like 3 or 4 times a day, and I only call Tesla once a week to see if I have a VIN. Yep, totally not obsessing!

my webpage now lists Alpharetta-Roswell as my delivery location
Tonight I found my car on the lot in Alpharetta...not yet prepped but looked good on quick inspection. The office was able to hand me a signed MVPA which reflects the trade-in I just added two days ago, so I can pick up my cashiers check at the credit union tomorrow!

Less than 48 hours to go!

I got a call from my IDA in Las Vegas with a delivery date of Oct. 1st in Decatur. A week after I got a call from a Customer Support Specialist in Fremont telling me they will give me a $200 store credit if I take delivery, before the 1st, on Sept. 28th. I accepted. She didn't tell me that the location was changed to Alpharetta-Roswell. I didn't care though since I want the car so bad. I tried calling/emailing my IDA for several days without a response to discuss the possibility of adding FSD before delivery. Finally I called 1 (888) 518-3752 to see if I could get any answers and they informed me that the VIN given to me is not assigned to me and they don't know what happened but that they can add FSD without any delivery delay since it is only a software change and won't be a change to the physical car and that it would cost $3,000 to add. I received an email from him to confirm. He put a rush on having my IDA call me back. The IDA finally called back and said that they were having a massive problem with VINs and they are trying to work out a solution and that he would get back to me before end of day but that it appears that when they changed my location to Alpharetta-Roswell it messed up the computer and caused my VIN to be released. He also said that 1 (888) 518-3752 was incorrect and that I can't add FSD without releasing the VIN (which I no longer had anyways) and delaying delivery 8 weeks. I have a very strong feeling that I won't be getting my car this year especially since the obsidian black metallic is no longer being produced in large quantities. I was also told that I will only get a local delivery specialist if there is a problem before delivery otherwise one will not be contacting me. This contradicts what I had been previously told. There is so much contradicting information and problems with delivery! Super frustrating!

Hope they get it worked out so you get your car soon. Would you mind posting your configuration details, reservation date, and order date? Or even better, add those to your signature. Good luck!

Hi all,

I just took delivery in Alpharetta.

  • I was originally scheduled for delivery on 9/22, but I called and asked if I could pick up early and they said yes! So when you call Tesla to verify that your car is on the lot, ask them if you can pick up early and see what happens!
  • There isn't really a showroom in Alpharetta. So we didn't get the experience of having our picture taken next to the car, like what we've seen online. It was a little disappointing but not the end of the world, and Tesla employees will be happy to take a picture for you.
  • They are VERY busy in Alpharetta. Model 3s are all over the lot, it was actually tricky to find somewhere to park. Please be patient when you go, we ended up having to wait two hours because of a mix up with paperwork.
  • Like others have said, take your time looking over your car. I had three Tesla employees with me while I called out things that I saw. Most of what I saw was dirt, and the employees were ready to clean it immediately. I did have a couple other small issues: found a small scratch on the paint near the bottom of the car, small scratch on the front window, back left light wasn't 100% flush. They told me a couple of the fixes would take weeks/months so I am going to live with most of it, but I am wanting to get the light fixed. What Tesla does is they write down the flaws you find and they draw the location of the flaws on a picture of the Model 3, then they said that I'll be getting a call.
  • Tesla took the time to charge my 3 while I was there, I would advise asking about it to make sure you're juiced. They did not charge me.
  • I wasn't the only person picking up the 3, so don't be surprised if you are being triaged with other buyers.
Savor the moment you first step in your new car (its surreal) and then when you drive off the lot. Its amazing. Enjoy!

Hi ForeverEv
In regards to the paint issues - are u saying you are just living with those issues or they noted them and once the delivery madness settles down you will bring it in and have those paint issues addressed?

I showed a Tesla employee the paint issue, then they circled the location on a piece of paper that had a drawing of a Model 3. The employee also wrote a note about it. I asked if it was fixable and the employee responded that the physical piece of the car would need to be replaced and it would take at least a month.

I decided that the issue wasn't worth rejecting the car (I didn't even see it, my fiance caught it, and everyone I've shown my car to haven't noticed it), even though it admittingly is frustrating and disappointing. All in all though I was very happy with the condition of the car, especially compared to some of the pictures we've seen in these forums.

The Tesla employee told me that a service technician would reach out to me about the issues I saw. I was told I should be called in three days, but I'll call them if needed. I'll still ask the tech if the paint issue can be fixed and see what they say.

Took delivery today in Decatur..after not good communication from my ISA he called Friday asking if I wanted to take delivery early on the 23rd and I said of course!

All I have to say, My delivery specialist (Keyea) at Decatur was amazing and friendly and the car was literally perfect with only one minor little ding in the chrome window trim. Paint is perfect as well as alignment of panels.

As soon as I got in the car all of the waiting and miscommunication was gone. This car has blown me away! Hope everyone else takes delivery very soon.

Cross post from delivery thread..
Data from Troy's spreadsheet
Reserved May 7th 2016 - ordered June 27th 2018 (within a few hours of being able to).
Config P3D-/White ext./Black int./EAP
  • My config has been delivered to 3 non reservation holders (they were non owners as well) in UT, TX and FL. All 3 ordered after I did.
  • 5 White P3D- have been delivered to non res holders (zero of them in California).
  • 18 White P3D- have been delivered.
  • 6 White P3D- left to deliver.
  • I'm 1 of 2 with my exact config left to deliver. The other one has a VIN and a delivery date. They ordered after I did.
I've been patient up to now. I haven't been calling to hound etc (maybe I should have). How are people on our side of the country being given my config when they just ordered with no reservation? How are our delivery appointments being cancelled with no ETA?

I'm about ready to just order the same car on my wife's account so we get it faster.

I called in frustration last week about hearing nothing and was told that they are no longer prioritizing based on reservation or already being an owner - its just what works for them delivering as many cars as possible. So I wouldn't re-order the car on your wife's account.

I got the expected call last night that the second delivery date for this AM at the Alpharetta location was not going to happen given no VIN had been assigned. So now back to showing Sept - Nov on my order page. The single biggest issue with the way my order has been handled is the fact that I was given a delivery date (now 2 weeks ago) apparently on the hope that something matching would be assignable in the interim - and until the person from the Alpharetta SC called last evening - I didn't know who my inside delivery person was or how to contact him.

Ah well - back to the waiting game...

Just got my email... my Blue/Blk P3D+ available at Decatur as early as 9/18 (thru 9/25). btw, I modified order on 8/30 to add PUP ($5K) after hearing about track mode limitation without it.

Originally scheduled for 9/24, notified won't be ready then and rescheduled me for 9/27 at Alpharetta location. VIN is 72xxx. Blue/Blk P3D+, no EAP. All monies submitted. Hoping delivery goes well. Have minor concerns over (older?) VIN #...

My vin is 77xxx and the car is literally perfect. Body panels all aligned and paint is perfect. Only this there was a tiny tiny nick in the chrome piece above the driver window but they are replacing it.

Clark over at Oasis Window Tinting did a great job today on my Model 3!
