This is definitely the best way...you want to precondition the battery for the most efficient (and quick) charging, but ABRP, IMO, gives a better route. When I have used it, it has generally saved me time (according to the estimated time of arrival for both Tesla Nav and ABRP).I've heard, and plan to test, using ABRP to plan the route, then use in-car for the execution so it pre-conditions the battery, updates in realtime better, etc.
