Brand New Car- Battery Shield/ Protection Damage

Does anyone know how thick the battery shield protection is?

Came home with our brand new M3 from the delivery center and while admiring its engineering and aerodynamic undercarriage (I’m obsessed with cars) saw 2 identical 1.5- 2 inch gouges on the battery shield/case. Guessing it was from bottoming out on the delivery truck.

Anyone with a similar issue? Thoughts on safety/ remaining protection?

That's a bummer for sure, but I wouldn't have any safety concerns about it. The bottom of the battery was created with the expectation that it would be abused! You could try taking it to the SC to ask about it but as far as I know, there is a minimum depth that the damage has to reach for a battery replacement and this is probably not a deep enough gouge.

"Within spec."
Lol-

any insight on what that minimum depth is? I think it’s about .2 inches deep at the most.

I just took delivery today of a MYP, the underside of the rock guard between the two passenger wheels was also severely scratched, with a few very deep (~1/8") and very long ~3 feet marks. it is ugly LOL. Seems to be scraped by something hard.

I took a photo at the delivery and the SA helped me to file my first every service ticket. Their technician came over to take a look and told me it would be a 1 hour appointment.

I guess what I'm saying is that you are probably not alone. If the delivery truck didn't set the ramp properly, there is a chance to damage the bottom of the car.... And I would also assume that as soon as you drive it off their lot, they may not pay for the repair. Otherwise, the car is perfect.
