Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to get everyone's thoughts on an upcoming purchase.
I'm buying a used Model X 100D Long Range from Tesla with about 30K miles.
It has FSD
AP 2.5 i believe
I am purchasing it for $76000.
I have the delivery coming up soon and wanted to know if this was a fair price to pay. Also how much battery degradation can i expect ?
Anything I should look out for at the time of pick up the vehicle at the delivery center?
Thanks
T4SLA

I have a 2017 MX 100D with about 32,000 miles. I have about 5% battery degradation - full charge is now 280 miles compared to original 295 miles.

We still like ours very much, although I longingly look at more range, as we do a lot of long trips.

Two things to be aware of. Back in 2017 there were still a lot of a la carte options, as well as continually changing what was in the premium package. So if there is any specific item you care about, don’t assume it is in any specific car. We thought our “premium package” had the winter package, but alas it did not and I am forever wishing for that heated steering wheel. Also, 2017 models have MCU1 which is much slower than MCU2 that came out in the spring of 2018. The main screen refreshes slower, does not have some entertainment features, and will eventually fail causing a large ticket expense. But you should be getting a 50,000 mile warranty from the point you buy it, so hopefully it will fail in that time frame.

I have no thoughts of any specific wear items to check.... perhaps basic functionality of the doors (and note that self-presenting was still an option in 2017), so it might not have it.

The price sounds good to me, although I have no real basis to say that other than it’s a lot less than I paid.

Congratulations and good luck!

I have an June 2017 X 100D with 48K miles and 5% degradation and I'm happy. I only have MCU1 and AP2.0 tho.

I think if the build date was Aug 2017 or later you have MCU2 and AP2.5.

Since 2020.4.1 firmware the car would have the below that you could have them send you a picture of. Below is mine.

Forgot about additional info under the software section:

I post my reply perhaps largely out of naïveté: while $76,000 may be a lot less than the vehicle cost 2.5 years ago, wouldn’t it make sense to pay $9,000 more now and buy a brand new 2020 Model X with an 8 year warranty and 0 mileage for $84,900?

Good point. I have 2017 S, see these benefits to the new Raven models:

- Better range. According to Elon, even more than currently stated on website.

- Autopilot 3 hardware/MCU2. The car will be able to run all features of new software years after a 2017.

- Full suite of options. Sub-zero package, Ultra High Fidelity System. Improved air suspension.

Only drawbacks I can think of:

- 2017 S/X 100 can charge at 72 Amps from HPWC at home, while 2020 LR is 48 Amps. You can still fully recharge at home overnight.

- 2017 S/X had “Panoramic” roof option - sunroof that opens.

If you can afford it, the $9,000 bump might be worthwhile. Interesting trade-off for 1 more year of car loan.

Actually, a new X with similar features as the OP described is $91900 with FSD 5 seater. Add $3000 or $6000 for 7 or 6 seats.

The X is a 7 seater with a black interior. Also it has 22 onyx rims (I suspect I will lose some range because of that ). I think the quoted price for a new vehicle with that spec is around 100K.

Sounds reasonable to me. I'm selling my 2017 Model X and have it listed for $74,900. It has FSD, 6 seater, cold weather package, and towing package. It has had Xpel ultimate wrap on the entire car since it was new. It's a great car, I'm just selling to get a new performance version. I'm in Albuquerque but willing to negotiate on the price if you are interested.
