Minor Explosion of BYD e6 Charger in Hong Kong - ChinaAutoWeb
These are the first pictures I've seen of the BYD fast charger infrastructure in Hong Kong.
A fast charger serving BYD e6 taxis exploded in Hong Kong earlier this week, causing no injuries. The affected charging station was closed for investigation.
Responding to questions about the accident, a spokesperson of BYD said that the minor explosion may be caused by a loose connection between the charger and the grid, which likely led to overheating and melting of the wall-mounted device. The company’s agency in Hong Kong has notified related departments of the government, which are expected to complete an investigation into the accident in a few days; it denied any signficant problems with e6′s battery or charging system.
