California Rebate funding exhausted for FY18-19

CVRP has exhausted fiscal year (FY) 2018-19 general funding for standard rebate amounts, but applications for applicants who have already purchased/leased an eligible vehicle are still being accepted and placed on a rebate waitlist. Qualified applicants on the rebate waitlist will receive payment if the project receives more funding from the State of California.

What does the rebate waitlist mean to me?

That sucks for new owners in California that didn’t apply before yesterday (6/4). Guess its a good sign that a decent number of EVs were sold though.

Yeah San Diego County was the only county that could do pre-approval. You could probably still do it with a VIN if you knew yours but I haven't gotten anything

You didn't need a VIN for preapproval, you didn't even need to know what car you were getting. You just had to submit an application.

This is not good. I could see a lot of Californians putting their Tesla purchase on hold until they wait to see what happens with funding. Tesla didn’t need this to close out Q2. I wonder if anyone cancels their existing order over this.

California is still very pro-EV especially BEV IMO, so hopefully they will approve additional funding. The news just came out so probably hear more about it soon.

That sucks. I'm picking the car this afternoon. If it was yesterday, I would've been fine.

They've always received new funding over the years, so I wouldn't worry about it.
Any recent CA owners apply for the $2,500 CVRP rebate?

This reminded me to check the status of my application. Submitted early April, so according to their website, I should expect approval in a couple more weeks.

If you filed on 4/22 than you have "Reserved" your funds.

Current application processing time is about 75 days.

I filed 3/27 and am still waiting.....

$2500 California Rebate Funding Status

It happened before. So far it always got funded again.

Yeah, next carbon credit auction is 8/20/19 which would provide the funding for more rebates. Last time was about 143 day wait between waitlist start and next funding round. This assumes they up funding again like the last 5 times this happened

Saw a news article saying that Newsom is proposing increasing funding for the program for FY2019-20. So probably just have to wait a few months for fund to get replenished.

I applied 3/24 and got my approval email on 5/29 which said check comes within 90 days. I hope it's sooner.
