Just noticed on firmware tracker that the Canadian model S who got 106 just got 108, the latest build of v8.0. So it would seem there is hope for seeing the update soon!

I'm pretty sure it's the same software, just with "region awareness" - I've never seen a different firmware version number on Canadian cars.

Correct, the software is the same across all the regions and cars (X and S alike).

No weird magic or anything. Regular OTA over WiFi but from the look of it, looks like it might have been pushed to a few Canadian cars accidentally since no one I know of got it in Canada.

Hopefully I'll be in the next batch of Canadians car updated by mistake. ;-)

In the meantime, the firmware tracker total count is picking serious speed. Hopefully we'll see more 8.0 soon this side of the border.

According to ev-fm tracking, only 2 cars got v8 in Canada. But given the the USB bug, I will rather Tesla fix it first.

FYI I emailed Tesla about the 8.0 software here. I'm not going to copy & paste the whole thing but basically the answer was that it is being rolled out in batches and I can expect it "in the next few weeks". FWIW.
