Charging Tesla from a dryer outlet

As others have mentioned, it is important to know the type of dryer plug.

This is an option for an extension cord. It works with the 14-50 adaptor from the Tesla UMC. The cord plug is missing one of the prongs, so it can plug into a 14-30. it is CRITICAL to set the car to 24a if using on a 14-30 outlet - the car WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY ADJUST like it will with a standard Tesla provided adaptor.

This will not help you on a 10-30 outlet.

Also, you might ask / consider if there is a 5-20 outlet anywhere in the garage. It is 120v, so not super fast... but if you are there for a few days it might meet your needs.

The extension cord you linked is a 14-50. You could use that and the appropriate 10-30/14-30 to 14-50 adapter. Again, this combo will not automatically adjust the current and you will need to ensure it is done in the car to not have a safety hazard.

Thanks to everyone. Your information really helps.
The extension I had in mind: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TCCFFZQ/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=A15AM8MHT45F3Q&psc=1. Is this the right one?

I bought this one, it works fine.

It was at my mom's house and I wanted to leave the cord there permanently hooked up so I also bought a splitter so she could use the dryer when I wasn't charging the car. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CVSJ6S9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

(Pulling the dryer out and crawling behind it repeatedly didn't appeal to me.)

s others have mentioned, the crucial thing to find out before you go is what type of plug it is and have everything in hand before you leave. Try and get the owner to snap a picture of the socket with their cell phone and send it, that's really easiest.

Get ChargePoint app to find random charging spots.

Then get a chargepoint app to activate charging spots. If you do local driving.

Did you mean to put Chargepoint twice, or only in the second place. I have it but find plugshare picks up more places, sometimes Chargepoint stations that don't show on their own app.

I did have to change settings to get plugshare to show some I'd been missing
