CPO or Private Seller???

More accurately, it is 4yrs or 50,000 miles from where it is when you buy the car. If the car has 12,000 miles when you buy it...compare CPO to PP. The CPO car will be under warranty to 62,000 miles or 4yrs from the day it is purchased used. The PP car will be under warranty to 50,000 or 4yrs from the date it was originally delivered. That's a difference of 12,000 miles. Not a difference of 50,000 miles. That was my example.

And if the premium for a CPO car over a PP car with 12,000 miles (approx accurate) then the additional 12,000 miles of warranty is $5,000.

That's the math. It is what it is. Some feel it is a great deal. Others don't. Both are right.

And the used car in this example comes with 3.5yr/38k. Could be a smart buy just as well, depends for whom. If the extra warranty is worth any money to you, then brand new car with ESA is the clear winner - forget CPO or private party.

Quite a few people will be out of a warranty in a little over 2 years.
They'll probably never get the full 4 years.
To get 4 years, someone would have to average 12,500 miles per year.
That's typical mileage for most lease agreements.
