You don't need a power magic pro on a Tesla, the dash cam can stay on 24/7. The DC to DC converter will top off the 12V battery when low unlike an ICE
You can install our site as a web app on your iOS device by utilizing the Add to Home Screen feature in Safari. Please see this thread for more details on this.
Note: This feature may not be available in some browsers.
There is also will be a group buy that will begin soon for the DR750S-2CH on the Model3OwnersClub site (listed in the Tech section) if you are interested, check it out.
Thanks for the heads up on this! The group buy went live today.
Model 3 Owners Club Dashcam Group Buy
all OBDII ports are constant power. However, there have been debate if the Model 3 has an OBDII.
the guy that runs the Model 3 Owners Club site was saying he had been told the Navdy aftermarket HUD would not work and he took that to mean they may have gotten a waiver to eliminate the OBD-II (which the Navdy runs off of) but I'd say that's far from confirmation. As far as I was aware, OBDII is required. At least that is what I have heard oft-repeated: All cars and light trucks built and sold in the United States after January 1, 1996 were required to be OBD II equipped.
Is that no longer true?
Old thread, but with the relevant info - so digging it up. Can anyone give an estimate of the vampire effect of a 650/750 2-ch setup running 24/7? What's the overnight draw look like, assuming it's just idle on stand-by (no wash shaking the car, or prowlers circling the vehicle). You don't need a power magic pro on a Tesla, the dash cam can stay on 24/7. I have a 650 2ch and run it 24/7. When I am away on business and the Tesla is plugged in but not being driven, I see about 12-14 miles a day depletion total. How much of that is the dash cam vs other vampire losses, I am not sure.
Never thought of getting one before, 100% will get one.
I just have no idea the difference between a $100 dash cam and a $500 one. Trying to educate myself.
...Any tips on alternative power sources...
How about converting 12V cigarette socket into constant source by locating its fuse box and swap out its relay and place a jumper there instead?
The problem is that we don't know where the fuse box is and Tesla doesn't label the fuses.
Considering they certainly know what they are doing. I guess they have confirmed that there is no OBD II port that they can tap into for power. Correct/accurate?I had Calibred Customs (who did my X install) come out for my 3 install today...I was there first 3 customer (they are traveling to the Bay Area tomorrow for additional installs).
I will have a full write up + video + pics soon but here is a summary:
But unfortunately the power source we used (passenger footwell area) shuts down the power to the car within 3 minutes
Any tips on alternative power sources? I am gonna have them comeback and fix this.
