Delivery question

Sorry for the second post in two days. My Tesla comes in Friday and the location is 240 miles away. I hired a towing company to go there and pick it up for me and bring it to my home. Is there any way at all that I can get out of driving there to sign stuff and just letting the tow truck guy bring it to me? Or is it required that I be there?

Thank you so so much!

I drove 7 hours acrossed New York state to Mt Kisco Tesla to pick up my Model 3... but third-party carrier was an option at that time for $750.

I wouldn't DIY that... not sure that's gonna work. Why not just ask Tesla about delivery options?

The downside to the delivery approach is that if there's an issue with the car, you can't reject the vehicle. Also, if the third-party carrier causes damage to the vehicle, you won't have proof if it was them or Tesla, and you'll be stuck in the middle.

So me and my wife made a date of our pickup... stayed in a hotel near Mt Kisco. The car was flawless.

Have you notified the delivery rep who has been sending you the information of your dilemma?

Have you investigated any other means of transportation to get you there instead of paying for a tow truck?

I think that they need a signature, insurance and more, depending on how you are paying for it.

I have and they offered the $750 delivery to home option but said it could add a few weeks to delivery. I will be gone for two weeks in 8 days so I can’t risk it. I have a flatbed company I trust ready to go, just would prefer to not have to go out there but if I need to I will. I also would prefer to not add 250 miles to my Tesla the day I get it haha.

The tow truck company was also cheaper than $750.

Side note: I have not had a consistent delivery rep and they answer like once every two days, kinda sucks.

So you probably need to inform then of what you need.

Yes, there can be multiple people answering the queues, which is advantageous for people taking days off.

The only thing I can find for the westchester location is an order support email, I just emailed that asking them about a flat bed picking it up for me, and I also texted the number about the same thing so we’ll see!

Appreciate the response! But where in New York are you that it took 7 hours??? I’m from Syracuse and it takes 3 and a half. You from Buffalo?

The flatbed company I’m going with is a family friend who said he would inspect vehicle for me when he got there. So I trust all of that.

Research the forums and YouTube for a solid inspection check list and prep rhe service center manager that they will have to PU the vehicle on their dime if you find multiple majors causing it to be returned.

Btw, seems a few M3s were out of alignment at delivery. Mine was. Due to your distance, if it is oit ask for a credit from Tesla.

Good luck and update us after on how it goes.

So do you think they will let my tow company pick it up without me there? I will definitely let you know how it goes if they allow this to happen.

Also, are you talking about wheel alignment?

That sounds like a problem to me. Like sending your landscaper to sign legal docs for your new house on closing day. That said, they do this with third-party carriers... so there must be a process by which they're allowed to turn the car over to someone else on your behalf.

Ultimately, this is really a conversation you'll have to have with your sales advisor.

Completely agree. Was just on the phone with my dad and he raised the same point about how they’ll let 3rd party companies delivery to you for $750. I would assume I’d sign the paperwork via fax or something. Seriously appreciate you guys and your input! We’ll see what they say back!

Not yet:
“The 25,000-square-foot showroom is planned for a tract of Oneida Indian Nation-owned land across from the International Boxing Hall of Fame at Thruway Exit 34 near Canastota. It would be Tesla’s first direct sales outlet in the state outside the New York City area and is expected to open in 2025.“

It's the next large paragraph which is making me wonder:

Starting in a week or so, Tesla will offer delivery of pre-ordered electric vehicles at the Oneidas’ Turning Stone Resort Casino off Thruway Exit 33 in Verona. Tesla will maintain offices at Turning Stone for delivery processing and registration. Delivery will be available on the top floor of the casino’s parking garage. That will continue during
