Destination charge on car being picked up?

If I go pick up a Tesla at their location instead of it being delivered, do I still have to pay the destination fee?

Yes. The destination fee is for transporting the car from the factory to your local delivery center. I seem to recall when I got my car in 2018, some people tried to circumvent the destination fee by attempting to pick up at the factory in Fremont, but not sure if they were successful at doing either.

ok Thank you. My question was with respect to a vehicle thats in their existing new inventory.

If I place a custom order today, assuming its still built in the Fremont factory, do I still have the option of picking it up there and circumventing that fee?

I am about 2 hours away from Fremont.

Old thread, but sounds like you can't circumvent the destination fee, no matter where you pick the car up.

Pickup at the Factory?

Elon recently mentioned on Joe Rogan's podcast that buyers would be able to pick up their Cybertruck from Giga Texas. Has anyone heard or looked into if this is an option at Fremont for the new plaid S and X?

No. Everyone pays the destination fee, full stop. Doesn’t matter if you take delivery of the car 300 feet or 3,000 miles from the factory.

This question continues to pop up the simple answer is NO everyone pays the destination fee. even if you pick up at the factory

Damn. thanks you all for the input. thats seems like free money to tesla especially since i am in a position to pick it up straight out of the fremont factory. Oh well.
