Not necessarily. If it's a high C rate cell with high cycle life chemistry then air cooling really should be fine, especially if it's active and conditioned.

Interesting that Geely already have joint venture agreement with Kandi.
Kandi is a small Chinese EV manufacturer who sold more EV then Tesla Motors in 2011 and 2012 and probably will sell more EVs in 2013 compared to Tesla.

Are they actually producing a car now? Where did you read that news about new models?
Looking at their website my impression is that the car is not in production and the website is mostly hype (and there are no new models). No doubt there are prototypes but apparently there are not real vehicles for sale.
I have only been on TMC for about 6 months and had not seen this thread before. Based on the various old press releases and news stories linked to in this thread it seems this company has over-promised and under-delivered.

Looking at their website I read that they are going to produce two new cars in 2014.
I spent 15 minutes on their website and don't find anything about "new models" but maybe I missed it. Regardless, it appears they don't even have one model in production and available to sell. Or maybe I missed that also?
It would be great to have another BEV sports car on the market. But it is surprising to me that it appears to be so similar to a Roadster, though no doubt contains some more modern electronics. And I wish them luck in using a 4-speed transmission in a BEV. That seems risky, and unnecessary. I don't care if a car has a 155mph top speed, that is useless to me: 100 would be plenty. I want acceleration and long range with fast charging.

- Detroit Electric told Edmunds it has scrapped plans to build its 2014 Detroit Electric SP:01 sports car
in Michigan and instead will manufacture the vehicle in the Netherlands.

They should change the company name. But I doubt we will ever see more than 1000 cars produced from this company.
