Does Tesla Prohibit Destination Chargers from Being Used by Non-Customers?

The charger hardware is free the installation and power is bourne by the establishment, their store their rules, if you think they're being pig headed don't do business with them but claiming that because they got the hardware for free they should offer free charging for all is childish
What's childish is defending an establishment that lies to its customers. Of course it's their power, duh! However, it's the establishment that made a conscious choice to lie to the OP when it told him that it's Tesla that does not allow them to let non-paying customers charge. That's total BS and they should be held accountable for making such false statements. It very clearly shows that they are ashamed of their policy enough to blame someone else for it.

Think of it like it was your business and you want to attract Tesla owners to rent your rooms.

Many hotels are located next to other hotels. Unless all of them have EV charging, you are probably going to deny some of your customers EV charging because it's already taken by guests from other hotels while giving your competition an overhead cost advantage, and giving you a black eye when somebody comes to check in and you don't have charging for them.

This is why many hotels require Valet parking for EVs. To make the parking spots harder for non-customers to use.
