Downside to SolarEdge monitoring request?

Friends,

I'm about to request SolarEdge monitoring permission from Tesla... But am concerned, are there any down sides to this?

I've heard Tesla stops supporting something after this request goes through?

Can someone help me understand the benefits and cons of this exercise please?

It is pretty useless except to verify that each panel is functional and producing power. Other than that, you don't get much benefit beyond what you get from the Tesla app. So it is good to have if you suspect that you have a broken panel, but for day-to-day it is unnecessary.

There is no downside at all. Tesla just doesn't support using Solaredge data. The solaredge app and website can show panel specific data and their plotting of the solar data is more cute.

Sorry if this has been answered before, but do you need to give a reason for the request to Tesla? Do I ask for them to create a customer login/pw under Tesla’s SolarEdge installer account? Tia

No justification is needed, you just need to ask them to set up a monitoring account at SolarEdge for you. Then you will get an email from SolarEdge which lets you log in to their monitoring site and phone apps.

I do not believe they will allow access to an installer account. I have tried a few times and no luck
