Drivers seat killing me!!

I have this same issue, I have been dealing with a herniated disc s5/l1 since a month after I got the car. Every time I get in the car it is very painful. I am not blaming the car for the disc, but this was odd timing. It causes me great pain on my left hip and then across my butt. The disc is on the nerve which then causes great discomfort in the left leg. I have to sit sideways in the car for relief.

Great... that’s the same pain I’m getting. I would say it probably is what gave you the herniated disc. I’m gonna try maybe buying a seat cushion.

interesting.... i find the seats to be very comfortable. I feel better when i sit in them... i’ve got a pretty fat ass though.... i wonder if it was not the seat that caused the pain/disk issues and rather the strenuous activity of getting in the car, as it is pretty low to the ground...

I changed my seat position which made a huge difference. Gave a me little more leg room.
It’s worth messing about with.
I have lower back pain but now my car seat is one of the most comfortable and I get pain when driving.
[edit]
Don’t forgot to also adjust the steering wheel, I just remembered I needed to move it towards me more.

I sat in the car for Hours last night trying to figure it out. I adjusted everything you can. What I think is the issue is that the bucket seats and the frame of the outside of the seats push your hips in. Right now I went to Canadian tire and bought a seat wedge and have the lumbar cranked pretty good. So far so good I guess. It’s weird. I have never had any issues with any other vehicle I have owned. Not in the slightest and then with in 10min of driving this car I was in pretty intense pain. That being said. Everything else about this car is amaze balls. I know a guy that does customize motorcycle seats and other seat stuff so I’m going to approach him and see if he can actually modify the seat for me.

I upgraded my seat skins to Tsportline Perforated White Vegan from original black that came with my car. I am super happy with both look and comfort of new skin. No more backaches or discomfort on long rides. It has soft backing which original seats do not have. Perforated seats also adds more comfort. I used my local super helpful mechanic (Mega Automotive Group, Coakley Cir Rockville MD) to install for me. Use someone who has a lot of patience as installation is rather complicated. These guys at Mega love to work on anything Tesla. They also installed Tow Hitch for me.

What did the total project cost? Door inserts?

I just picked up my new model 3 sr+ yesterday and started my 150km drive home. Within 10min I noticed I was getting a shooting pain in my left leg. It feels like the frame of the seat isn’t padded enough or something. All I know is my but and leg still hurt. Has anyone had this and is there anything to fix it?
You’re describing a sciatic nerve issue. You might benefit from hot and cold compresses on your butt and eat some ibuprofen. Sorry. I suffered this on more than one occasion. Pushing in the clutch was excruciating. The lumbar support in the car may help also.

As far as low to the ground my previous car was a Mercedes c300 AMG trim, so it was lower. I have tried the lumbar, seems to increase the pain. I am at almost 4 months dealing with this now. Been doing cortisone shots.

The are days when driving to work and back are not bad, others it is all I can do to get home as fast as possible. I bought a seat cushion today. Hope it helps. Really love this car and hope it’s not the source of this pain.

I have a 30 year history of passing several kidney stones each year. I started driving my Model 3 on June 21 and ended up in hospital that night with a kidney stone. I can’t blame Elon for that, although I’m convinced that some of the Tesla naysayers would. :)

But for two weeks afterward I had “kidney stone pain” on the left. I went back to the hospital. The CT scan showed over a dozen stones, but none near the left ureter, so that wasn’t the problem. I started adjusting the seat and the pain has reduced. It hasn’t gone away, but it is reducing.

I still haven’t figured out how to use the four directions of the lumbar button. As I seek “back nirvana”, some days I make it better and some days I make it worse.

Keep me posted on the seat cushion! Did your pain start the day you picked up the car? Mine was almost right away. Kind of felt like I had my wallet in my back pocket and I was sitting on it the whole way home. I kept moving around to try and fix it but nothing worked. Grrrrrrr. Very frustrated.

Have the same problem in most cars. Currently have a special ASS chair, but this is very difficult to put into the M3 I bought, because of all the sensors in the Tesla seat. Local Tesla SeC advised me to go to a specialist, they can adapt the seats to perfectly match your build. Mine is going to be 4 cm longer and wider (they do the widening by hollowiing the 'side-cheeks'). Costs around EU 1.000, but worth every penny

keep me posted on how you make out with this!! ill pay whatever it takes to fix this

I find the seats to be the 2nd best I've owned, after the sport seats in my BMW.

Anyhow, my thought is that the lower seat cushion seems short to me, as my BMW can extend its lower seat cushion. So, I make sure my butt is wedged firmly where it's supposed to be, and then I raise the front of the lower seat cushion to make sure my thighs are adequately supported.

Exactly, KenC most of it comes from unsupported upperlegs. That´s why they are adding 4cm lenght to the chair.
@scotilac, will do! Won't get it until first/second week of September.
Gotta see pics once you get it done. I'm one of those who sit in the car for an hour setting up the seat so it's perfect. I completed crushed my L5 in a bike accident and spent 3 months in a hospital bed, flat out. Ergonomics is so important and our backs pay when we don't give them attention. You sound like you might be taller than most or at least long legged.
Having said that I love my seats, set all the way down at the butt, raised at the knees and 10° slope in the back.
Good luck with your set-up and looking forward to seeing it finished!
