Early Model Y getting 'upgraded' HVAC filters

I had my one year service and the mobile tech said the first filter change is complementary because they've changed their filter media and are now using charcoal filters. This is suppose to correct the bad smell that many are noticing from the HVAC system.

Has another noticed a difference with these newer filters?

I have a late model with bio defense. I do not ever smell anything. 2k miles, 2 months old. The HEPA filter system works in conjunction with the two in cabin filters so it always smells clean inside. Glad to hear they are replacing for free!

I had the bad smell and they charged me $200 to change the filters. car was brand new

I replaced the filters on my own a few months ago. Bought the filters on Amazon. My VIN is about 3000.

Well you only have two months in so you won't smell anything...as expected.
