Early VINs

Hey guys,

Has anyone noticed a thread with keeping a tally on early VIN numbers? I am aware of the thread showing an on-going tally of VINs starting in June 2013. I was hoping to get some information prior to these dates.

Also, is it safe to assume the last 5 digits of the VIN is the production number of the car? Looks like there are some gaps. For example, through Q2'13 Tesla delivered ~12,753 cars... the latest VIN posted at the end of June show 16,218, so about a 3k gap - any ideas?

Trying to get an idea of how fast they are producing these cars.
