i usually move too fast to ever get photos before I install parts as well. I actually remembered this time!

I really only wanted to go as low as the MYP considering it’s my wife’s DD, so I knew I’d have to live with the 1.1” / 1.5” reverse rake (although yours looks very minimal). The H&R 1.7” front and rear setup was tempting, but the ride quality would’ve suffered even more on stock struts.

Depending on the time of delivery, I should be able to get them installed today. I’ll try to get pics posted after I set it back in the ground. 👍🏼

I installed the springs this afternoon, a little more aggressive than a MYP, but it looks good!

Here are the measurements immediately after getting the car back on the ground (same rotation as my previous posts). I’m assuming it’s likely to settle slightly, but I’ll take measurements in another week or so to compare. Eibach states a 1.1” front and 1.5” rear. These measurements are obviously all approximate, as I don’t have a consistent measuring method.

~5/8” lower driver front
~1-1/4” lower driver rear
~1-3/8 lower passenger rear
~3/4 lower passenger front

There were really only two things that were notable during the install. Eibach sends new bump stops (left, stock on the right), and the MY strut towers have enough space for a standard 13MM socket to remove the nuts that hold the top of the strut assembly. Every install I saw on YouTube showed the installer grinding a socket down to fit (specifically on the M3). I’ll take some better whole car pictures after the Holidays.

Really straight forward install!

After a quick search, here are a few measurements from a MYP for comparison:

Stock MYP
Passenger rear ~30.5”, passenger front ~30”.

Eibach
Passenger rear ~29-7/8”, passenger front ~29-1/4”

It looks to be about 3/4” lower than a factory MYP (assuming minimal settling). I personally found this relevant because I like the way a factory MYP sits on the 21’s.

The car is dirty and I’m waiting on black lugs and new center caps, but here are a few pics. First pic is stock, the rest are with the springs installed.

Correct, even a standard 13mm socket fits well on the MY, no need for a thin wall as compared to M3. Very easy to install, i believe i did use a 21mm, 17mm, 15mm, T40, 18mm ratcheting ratchet for the sway bar end links.

13 months later, I'm still waiting for my UPP Comfort Springs to arrive. The Eibach's sounds like it may not be as bouncy, but I'm not looking for a stiffer ride.

Given that UPP has pulled their comfort springs option completely from their website, at this point, I'll just ask for my money back. Not willing to dump the $$$ on a coilover set, and if air suspension isn't offered on late '22 or '23 model years, I'll most likely look to move on to a different brand when the supply chain craziness ends and the car market craters in mid/late '23. As long as I can break even on my MY at that point, I'll be happy. No other complaints or issues to speak of with my '20 MYLR at 20K miles, but the ride quality is absurdly immature for what this car is supposed to be (e.g., this is not the MYP) - and I come from BMW, who knows a thing or two about performance suspension. There will simply be so many EV options by '23 on the market, that I can't imagine that Tesla is really going to hold the dominant position they have today in the market.

The drop with the Eibach setup is mild, and I’d imagine it rides very similar to a MYP. I didn’t notice any degradation or improvement in ride. It feels the same as stock to me.

I’ve been modifying cars for over 20 years. Related to suspension, I’ve done everything from springs to coilovers to air ride (sometimes all on the same car/platform). I’m sure that experience impacts my expectations of ride quality, but this MY setup is pretty uneventful.

Added a front lip, subtle but it looks a little more aggressive than before. Nice with the moderate drop. I’ll be adding spacers in a few weeks as well. I’ll post new photos after I install them.

I know I've already posted my comments regarding ride quality, but I didn't notice any difference between this moderate drop and the stock springs. It basically lowers the LR close to the height of a stock MYP.

Does anyone know if the LR and MYP use different shocks/struts?

Performance and LR use different springs/struts.

Look great but how is the ride versus stock?
Stock is pretty harsh from factory, the Eibachs provide a bit sportier ride.

Thanks!

I knew they were different springs, but I wasn't sure about the struts. Similar to other platforms that I've dealt with over the years, I wonder if as this model ages if there will be more OE parts being sold on the forums as people upgrade (e.g. MYP owner selling their low mileage factory struts after having installed coil overs, etc.). I know the MYP is only slightly lower than the LR, but I'm sure the strut design would be more capable of dealing with aftermarket springs that lower the LR's by ~1". This is all assuming that factory MYP struts could be acquired for a low enough price due to someone wanting to clear garage space, otherwise you might as well move on to coil overs.
