Entering my driveway I got the rear mirrors to fold. How to open them automatically?

Hi, I managed succesfully to fold automatically my rear mirrors as soon as I enter my driveway, so I can enter my narrow garage.

Ideally I wish that when I baclup, after getting out of the garage, they will unfold automatically.

Can this be done?

You can only get them to unfold with door handle autopresenting. This means they will be unfolded BEFORE you back out of the garage. Not what you wanted but it is what it is.

Occasionally I need this, and I just use the voice command, "unfold mirrors". Sometimes they fold back in due to the geo-location, but I get what I need.

Good to know, although instead of press voice command, give command, I guess is faster pressing the button to unfold

I also just back out of my driveway with them folded. When you put the car into "Drive" and start moving forwards, they unfold automatically.

Mine don’t auto unfold until I reach like 29mph. Nosecone car...

I wonder if that is a difference between AP1 and AP2 or nosecone/refresh cars? Mine starts to unfold as soon as the car starts moving forward...

That could pose a damage issue though. I back into my garage and fold the mirrors so that they don’t scrape the storage rack. If they auto unfolded the minute it put the car into D and crept fwd, that’d annoy the hell outta me.

Yes they should unfold outside my garage, in my case as well. That's the point

I was replying to @drklain ’s post above where his car immediately unfolds the mirrors when he begins to drive forward.

i press the voice button and say "unfold mirror" and within like, 2 seconds (MCU2), they unfold

My mirrors automatically unfold about 100 feet from my driveway. Speed seems irrelevant. Very convenient.

It could be mine does that as well...I can't back up 100 feet to show, am always going forward by then!

I will test my car today to see if it will unfold automatically in drive in my driveway...

Tested it. Backed into my driveway (definitely less than 100 feet as the garage had not yet closed). Then put it in drive and started to move forward, mirrors unfolded. I note that those who say it doesn't until they get to 29mph appear to be nosecone or AP1 cars. I'm a refresh, AP2 car (now upgraded to AP3). That may be the difference.

it takes about 25-50 feet for mine to auto-unfold...moving forward

Ok, I tested it today. Backed into driveway and then pulled out going forward. Mirrors did not unfold until the place they normally do (which is where I normally shift from reverse to forward). It is about 100' from the garage, so it appears clear that the unfolding of mirrors is set at a distance away from the location where you have set them to fold based on geolocation. It just happens that distance normally coincides with my change in direction. I also confirmed they will unfold anyway (regardless of distance) if you speed up above around 30mph...

Mine are completely random.
They usually do fold when I drive towards the garage. But sometimes they unfold when I reverse out, sometimes they stay folded, then unfold as I drive away.
