I leave mine at home... I just let FasTrack take a photo of my plate and do it that way, it works the same and it's all automatic on fatracks end as long at your plate number is on the account.
Goo idea. In Colorado they say to attach the sticker to the lower left windshield, which I’ve always done and hardly notice it. Ours is just a small sticker so a little less visible. Can’t see why it wouldn’t work in the center though.
Mine has a switch on it to go between Toll and HOV so it has to be in an accessible location. In CO if you rely on license plates then there is no way to use the HOV lanes for free, and tolls lanes cost more than if you use the pass.
I've got mine on the top of the windshield to the right of mirror. It's mostly hidden by the mirror but I can still move my head to see the switch position and reach it when I need to change it.
Some folks are reporting getting cited by the CHP when using the toll lanes for a VC violation that requires the Fastrak to be mounted in a designated spot on the front windshield. YRMV.

That works for everything except the new express lanes in the Bay Area. For those you are required to have a FasTrack with a switch to identify the number of passengers.
Mine gets picked up at toll booths through the dash (have it in the glovebox). Fallback is the license plate photo. Don't know if this placement would work for express lanes since I've never taken one during the hours they're active.
It works fine. Here in Southern Cal we got the little sticker with RFID embedded in it. They work great as well. I just stuck it by the Tesla T on the right of the windshield. Just be sure that the T and the sticker are not covering each other.
