I've not seen any discussion on how TM is doing firmware updates across different models. I now have 2 Tesla's (yea!) a M3 & MX. I just received an upgrade notice in my MX. Will there be any syncing between firmwares, or will they remain separate and on their own schedule? Almost seems like they have to be independent of each other.

So far they are separate. In fact depending on the changes there are up to 8 different variants: (Maybe even more)
  1. Classic Model S
  2. AP1 Model S
  3. AP1 Model X
  4. AP2 Model S
  5. AP2 Model X
  6. AP2.5 Model S
  7. AP2.5 Model X
  8. Model 3
Sometimes a release covers more than one variant. But we have never seen a Model 3 release on an S or X. (or vice-versa)
