Try turning your wifi off and then back on. At least on my Wifi with similar situation as you, the app will connect for a few minutes. So hopefully long enough for the update to start downloading before the VPN dies. I'm going to do that as soon as I get home.

One of the "real" experts (wks?) said that the initial command to download the update can come over LTE, but the car will wait up to 3 days for a wifi connection before it downloads over LTE.
First to post screenshot is the winner. Haven't seen any confirmation this is actually 8.0 yet...

EV-FW has two Model S that are new today with that same version number. One in Belgium, and one in Canada. So it seems like X's get lumped with international S's.
I edited my post with a screenshot. :-D

OK, so have they fixed the media player for USB users?
Not sure, I don't use USB. But I noticed the car did not warn me of stronger regen like on my Model S.
