Won't give vin, mileage in ad doesn't match picture, plate doesn't match either.

I get that there's no VIN, but the Odo in the photo is "Trip A" and the plates do match.

I don’t know why some sellers don’t disclose their vin. Is there some urban legend of someone could steal their car using just the vin?

There have been alot of scammers on craigslist lately. They usually ask for your real email address to send more pics or more info. Dont fall for it by giving them your info.

That doesn’t look like a scam. Did you ask and he refuses to give the VIN or you’re just going off the fact it’s not listed in the ad?

Yeah...that one doesn’t look like a scam whatsoever. If you’re in the area, I’d check it out in person in a public meeting place. That would solve your VIN and mileage mystery.

When you say he won't disclose VIN does that mean he just didn't list it or you specifically asked him for it and he said no?

If he won't provide it to you, then that's a red flag because it means he won't allow you to do any research on the vehicle like a CarFax.
If he didn't list it, then that's not a problem. There are scammers out there harvesting VIN's. They take a known VIN and then put up a fake craiglist ad selling vehicle with that VIN. They take a potential buyer's deposit and run off.
