Hey guys, I'm new to the forum so let me know if anyone has heard, seen or posted about this before.

I took ownership of a Model Y back in September. Upon delivery I noticed the driver side door had two small door dings in it. These were noted and it was submitted for service. Tesla said they would have a PDR company fix the dents. The car also have other flaws but nothing too big. My car was in service for almost 4 weeks. I live in Denver and it was at the Littleton service center.

I get the car back and I could still see one of the dents so I called and let them know. They agreed to let me take it to a PDR shop in my neighborhood so I did.

The owner did a good job getting the dent completely out buuuut... After that we looked over the entire car for any other imperfections and the passenger side door showed more imperfections. I attached a picture.

Is this normal?? Tesla is obviously fighting this now being almost 2 months into ownership.

Does anyone else have any input on this? Anyone seen this before?

Thanks

Jason

I'm not sure that those are actual dings. I have noticed, at certain angles and light conditions, my doors also sometimes look wavy in spots. I assumed it was just the best Tesla can do with these panels. It was not a big enough deal to make me want to bother trying to iron it out, but the problem may be more noticeable in a white car.

I have the same issue on both of my doors (2021 MY MSM). I was able to have my local service center fix the biggest dent on one door but they refused to fix other dents because they were difficult to see. I inspected 4 other MY's at the service center and 2 of them had the same issue. I just think this is the best they can do at this point... maybe I'll have a PDR service fix the rest if they continue to bother me.

2021 White MY here. I have the same on both front doors. You really have to catch it in the right light at the right angle to even notice. I figure it is from the metal rolling. Door is smooth to the touch. Not noticeable enough to me to pursue any adjustment.

Thanks big time for the feedback guys. It's good to know its not just my car. I agree its not very noticeable in certain conditions. Those pictures were clearly taken with the dent removal light behind it so definitely the most obvious representation. Nothing I can't live with...

My 2021 MSM has the same door defects on both front doors, the rear doors look fine. I showed it to the service center and they said it was normal, and the Y on the showroom floor had the same defects. Has anyone had any luck getting this fixed?

Ancient thread. Going to bump it.

Our 2022 Model Y LR MSM had it. I noticed under certain lighting weeks after delivery, but car hadn’t been driven anywhere it could have picked up dings, so said the heck with it.

Just traded for a 2024 MYP white, same thing. I looked around at the dealership and basically every MY had same to varying degrees.

It’s very hard to see though, especially on certain colors. Anyone who thinks theirs is perfect, I strongly suspect those of us who can spot it would spot it.

This time I caught it early and noted at delivery so will see what they say. Out of 3 delivery specialists/ techs who checked it out, only one agreed instantly with me he could see it. The others genuinely had no clue. It is there for sure though.

IMO their aluminum stamping process continues to have issues.
