frozen windows dangerous closing them

today my rear door windows were frozen up. i was able to get the door handles open and pulled the door open but when i went to close the door the top of the window was catching the frame since the window was frozen and didn't get a chance to slightly open.

if i had just slammed the door shut the window would have definitely shattered.

i had the car on remote defrost for a good 10 min before opening doors too. the only way to unfreeze them was to pour hot water constantly in the the window sill about 6 times over a few minutes.

dangerous and very badly designed!

i yanked on door to open it just worked there was a scraping noise but i thought it was ice cracking. it seems opening is safer than closing with windows frozen in full up position.

I’m baffled how across multiple vehicles and years of driving them in a super-so there zone through every precipitation I’ve never had these issues. Far fewer winter issues with Teslas than with any gasser I had.
