Frunk Closing Tips?

Picked up my 2020 Raven on Friday. Scared $hitless on closing the frunk. Seems so fragile. I'm placing my hands where it says in the manual, but I can still feel it wanting to crease/bend every time I apply pressure.

First of all - congratulations and enjoy!

No issues in my Sept '17 X100D in the last two+ years. I admit I use my frunk for long term storage and don't open/close it much.

Forgive me if this does not relate to an X but on the S and 3 the sensation is more like "squeezing" it closed. Use an open hand with spread fingers, and flat palm, to distribute the force widely. Position said hand directly over the latch. Push down, slowly increasing the pressure, until you hear the latch engage.

I was afraid to use my frunk until I got comfortable with this.

It took a while to overcome years of habit developed during closing spring loaded hoods (dropping from about 14" seemed usually about right). It's a new and confusing world.

Right! Which, for me, made the journey longer and more stressful. Without that pressure there, I reverted to banging, dropping, slamming, and pushing elsewhere, none of which felt right (or would even work). The above is what works for me.

I picked this up from homedepot today. The 2.5in spring works well with taking a LOT of pushing force off closing the hood and still works with the stock struts for when you open the frunk. Total time to install maybe 5 mins.
