What do they do with a rejected car? Just hope the next person takes it?

That’s my understanding.

I had a laundry list of issues for the car they tried to deliver to us on 08/01 but the manager (my sales person was off that day) didn’t seem interested. So she only knew of a few items (5+ fish eyes on frunk, busted taillight).

can you pass me the checklist if you have one? I don't have a pickup date and neither a VIN (rejected the first win as I wanted pickup later in month) but would keep it handy.

I had two checklists plus an app that is a checklist, but when I arrived I found them to be overwhelming. I didn’t take the time to combine into one so often they overlapped. Plus my better half was looking it over. This car was so bad that we didn’t really need a checklist, everything was highly visible.

If you search google for “tesla model y checklist” you’ll have a lot of results to choose from. Back then I’m not sure if there were more than two but looks like there might be more now. The app I have is called “Inspect T.”

When we do try again to get a Y in good shape my plan is to combine the two printed lists I have, remove duplicates, and then remove duplicates that are covered in the app. So I’ll use the app primarily and then check a few extra items from paper. Looking at paper or the app instead of looking at the car was a bit weird. I finally just opened a new note on my phone and started taking notes of issues.

That's a great list! Questions - how does one taste that a vehicle will accept a charge when taking delivery? Looks like this could take 15 or 20 minutes? Interesting that Maryland requires that Tesla kit. I'm presuming New York does not so after looking at the kit, I think I'll be ordering one pronto!

I rejected mine and saw on the VIN tracker spreadsheet it was sold 4 days later 1000 miles away in Atlanta.

August 30th. VIN assignment was exactly 6 weeks after ordering. Tesla missed its promise of a Q3 delivery, though I'm not complaining so much now since I was assigned a 2021.

Yes it does look like the next manufacture run is for MSM.
My SA just got back to me saying my car is not manufactured YET.

I’m in California and placed my order 9/21 - MSM-LRAWD-19” Gemini- Black interior and Tow hitch. Still No VIN. Hoping to get matched up soon.

Received my VIN, white, black/white, 20in, tow hitch. Ordered 9/9, east coast. no delivery estimate, SA stated about 2 weeks, he pinged the car and it was sitting outside of the factory in Freemont in a lot. Patiently waiting!

Crazy...why did you reject yours, and how long ago was this?

A month ago. Several alignment issues that they supposedly fixed but made worse and also gouged the door sill trying to fix the handle that was sticking. Waiting for a 2021 hopefully with the updated console.

Received my VIN today, 2021 build, 624XX

I called Tesla today and found out the car’s build date was 10/11. They’re estimating it’ll be ready for pickup in Raleigh around 10/25. Falls right in alignment with cdhowell’s 2 week estimate.
