Gotta figure this out for the future of EVs

On a macro scale, what EV car manufacturers (and to some degree 3rd party vendors) need to address/balance in the future is the replacement cost of HV battery vs current value of the EV.

Older 2012-2015 Model S's replacement packs from Tesla currently are $15k and $20k USD (that includes labor and tax) for reman and new respectively.

Not quite apples to apples, but I also have a 2017 Prius Prime PHEV that has an 8.8 kWh HV battery. Current replacement cost is $10k USD, not including labor and tax - for a pack a fraction of the size of ours. 8 year/100k mile warranty.

I've heard it said that prices will come down. I won't hold my breath.
