Great September Delivery Push

Was told by the adviser that my P3D will not be at the delivery center on 09/27 so won't be able to make 30th delivery, however, they do have a AWD in the exact same configuration as my P3D order and asked if I will be interested in that. Crazy that I cannot get the car in the specs that I initially ordered after being re-scheduled twice :(

How is that the same car? It's not, right.? I can't imagine they would offer a lesser car than the one ordered just to move a vehicle.

It's not the same car. They are just offering it to me because according to them it is in their lot and available. Sounds tempting because it has the exterior color I ordered and white interior that I wished I could have ordered. The car is 11k cheaper so it has that going on for it. i will be losing lifetime free supercharging though. I have never had a fast car let alone a Tesla so I don't know if I should wait for performance or simply jump on this white on white beauty.

This is interesting as there's a thread over here where people are speculating that the P3D is just a software unlock. But if that were the case I'd think they would go ahead and unlock that AWD for you.
I ordered a Performance 3. The car at delivery was an AWD.

Yeah, I don't think it is just a software unlock. It does include better inverter and motor that ahs the ability to withstand higher heat and stuff. I am sure the software unlock part is to make sure the car appears as performance with dual motor badge underlined with red line because I think they were unable to get software part correct for some Performance models which is when they hook up their computer and add the icon for dual motor underlined.

I don't think all AWD and P3Ds are equal because why wouldn't they want more money from me and simply software unlock it if that were the case. We're talking about 12k price difference here.

Right, so it's not a performance. Well, personally, I think that AWD with all the other features you like/want AND 11K cheaper is a better choice. I always wonder why someone wants to pay so much more for the ability to go to 60 in 3.5 seconds, unless they are going to track it (even that wouldn't really add too much value) and or enjoy racing others off the line.

If you've never had a fast car, you would LOVE the AWD and I'm not sure how much MORE you would love the P vs. having the 11K (plus taxes) in your pocket while driving the AWD around. ;-)

You're right. I think I am gonna jump the gun and get it. Scheduled for 9/30 but adviser said it can be moved to tomorrow if I want. Told them I want to stop by tomorrow to inspect the car while it's in their lot and if I am okay with it I will take the delivery on 9/30 or the same day if possible.

Ask for free supercharging!~.. I had a friend get a 3K discount on a brand new X last week.

I ordered mid-July. Got notified 9/6 delivery scheduled "September 30 through Sunday, October 7". Notified 9/14 delivery scheduled 9/29. VIN showed up around 9/21. Asked my delivery specialist yesterday to confirm all is set (AFAIK it is) but no response. ~24 hours out, and I'm hopeful but not holding my breath. I'll believe it when I drive off the lot...

Getting 1 Year Free Supercharging. Want to ask for more. Also the price they're giving me for dual motor is 5k more than RWD but when i configured my order back in August the difference was 4k. So I will have them change that tomorrow or I won't accept the delivery. Will ask for more supercharging though but I doubt I will get it because I have not heard of anyone getting more than 1 year of supercharging for AWD

@umair239 - just a thought - suggest you do some math on the value to you of supercharging. For me, it has (almost) zero value because I expect (almost) never to use it. Even if I did use it frequently, I don't think it would add up to much actual value. Something like a "3K discount on a brand new X" (@tivoboy) would be way more valuable, assuming I was buying an X.

or ask for a free home charger, or different wheels? at this point, since they are trying to press you to take something different than your order, a lot is negotiable.
I hear you. Thank you for all the suggestions guys. I will bring it up to the adviser tomorrow. i think home charger is a great idea. I will ask them to adjust the price of AWD down to 4k price difference which it when I configured my P3D, Give me 1yr of Free Superchargin + Wall charger. That sounds fair

Well, the adjustment to 4K is just not negotiable. You put in the order prior, so don't give away something you don't need to.. that's just the starting assumption - THEN the negotiations begin.

I know there are some disappointed people out there because of delivery problems. I’m sure there are also a lot of anxious people waiting to pick up their cars this weekend having read some of the horror stories. I too was anxious after my delivery date had moved four different times. To try to calm some of those people down, I’m happy to report I just picked up my Model 3 about an hour ago from the Dania Beach SC in South Florida. Everything was smooth, car is perfect. Go Tesla!

Congrats..... I hate you.

Yeah, not so smooth here. Still trying to get Tesla to send me the MVPA before my loan officer leaves the office for the weekend...only took 3 calls and an email to my inside sales advisor this morning. I'm not confident tomorrow's delivery is going to happen.

Two weeks back I predicted 10% of the scheduled deliveries won't happen before end of the month and now it might be even worse as most folks are posting about cancellation and only very few about successful delivery. This whole fiasco is unbelievable and how they are making fun out of desperate buyers.

Tesla need to stop playing with numbers which in turn causing all these mess. end of Q2, they staged a drama to produce 5000 M3 and after 3 months we just heard today they produced 5,000+ M3 in the last 7 days. this is crazy and pure number game they are playing instead of being honest and transparent.

10% might be a possible number but the whole thing wasn’t a fiasco. Disorganized vs expectations for sure but the majority left happy and 1000’s of new owners are now evangelists.
