No, that's Capitalismsocialism
The rich-poor gap in America is obscene. So let's fix it – here's how | Bernie Sanders
Meanwhile, the people on top have never had it so good. The top 1% now own more wealth than the bottom 92%, and the 50 wealthiest Americans own more wealth than the bottom half of American society – 165 million people.
With Joe Biden’s own audacious New Deal, the democratic left rediscovers its soul
It’s bold, yes, and we can get it done.” So declared President Joe Biden launching his $2tn plan last week to overhaul US infrastructure – ranging from fixing 20,000 miles of roads to remaking bridges, ports, water systems and “the care economy”, care now defined as part of the country’s infrastructure. Also included is a vast uplift in research spending on eliminating carbon emissions and on artificial intelligence. And up to another $2tn is to follow on childcare, education and healthcare, all hot on the heels of the $1.9tn “American Rescue Plan”, passed just three weeks ago.
Cumulatively, the scale is head-spinning. Historians and politicians are already comparing the ambition with Roosevelt’s New Deal or Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society programme.
But the overriding driver is the pandemic and the way it has exposed the precariousness of many Americans’ lives. It has re-legitimised the very idea of government: it is government that has procured and delivered mass vaccination and government that is supporting the incomes of ordinary Americans. Unconstrained US capitalism has become too monopolistic; too keen on promoting fortunes for insiders; too neglectful of the interests, incomes and hopes of most of the people. An astute politician, Biden has read the runes – and acted to launch a monumental reset. Expect more to come on trade, company and finance reform and the promotion of trade unions.
electricity prices will drop? Not with PGEUtilities object to bill aimed at reducing natural gas use
A bill that would have called for the gradual reduction in the use of natural gas no longer has year-by-year targets, but still drew opposition from utilities in Nevada.www.reviewjournal.com
Well, the utilities are at it again, fighting the future. Southwest Gas is the loser here. NV Energy is backing SW Gas as a friend. NV Energy had reduced energy prices over the last decade every year in order to prevent people from massively adopting roof top solar. The future is electric and if the utilities are not competitive, people will make their own solar+battery home grid. With solar and battery pricing continuing to drop, building excess solar capacity and turning off panels during spring and fall would still be financially viable within a decade.
Right now, it's already borderline worth it getting solar and home (AGM) battery. I am waiting because I know prices for solar, battery, and my electricity price will continue to drop.
electricity prices will drop? Not with PGE
I have converted my large house to 99% electric. All I have left on propane is a hot water heater, gas stove top, and a propane spa heater.NV Energy has maintained/lowered power prices in the last decade for a reason. If PG&E increase prices, buy solar+battery and be self sufficient. I would think you can cancel your utility account. If your home battery run low (may happen in the winter if you are using electric/heat pump), charge your EV outside then go home and charge the battery bank with your EV (might be doable with 12V to 240V inverter connected to the generator port 1 KW for 24 hr is 24KWh). Great to have options.
I am thinking of converting my appliances to heat pump, cancel my natural gas account and save on the account fee.

I have 5 PW's and need to add more solar. But even then, no way can I recharge the batteries in the winter from solar. Now, if is legal to do but Tesla will not budge. But, there are always creative ways to get things done.
makes sense. But, when house low, and batteries full, as they are right now, I love seeing all that solar going back to the grid for creditsWhen you say not enough power in the winter, are you using heat pump (300% efficiency) or electric heat (100% efficient)... heat pump is the key.
Air source heat pump with HSPF 10.3 is 302% efficient! Appliances include HP water heater, HP air heating... maybe HP hot tub too?
Cooking, you can switch to Induction range and electric rice cooker/pressure cooker.
For the summer, AC with 12 EER is 352% efficient!
And, of course, work on shading and insulation! Window shutter on S and W facing windows will save on cooling. Insulation between window and window shutter on N facing windows in the winter will save on heating.
It sounds like you have enough Powerwalls. Overbuilding on solar may be cheaper than more battery storage to meet your daily house needs. When the battery is full and no house load needs the power, your battery system should turn off you solar.
Overbuilding solar at up to 4 times peak load yields a least-cost all-renewables grid
The global energy firm Wartsila found a least-cost renewables mix for the U.S. that involves overbuilding renewable capacity, but requires no seasonal storage, and needs only four to ten days of multi-day storage capacity. The analysis modeled meeting current uses of electricity, based on...pv-magazine-usa.com
