Couple of ways. The ones I'm looking at have a small.motor and when car is locked, as you approach and the car unlocks, they will flip open so you just pull the handle rather than the two stage operation of sticking your thumb in. When not unlocked the whole car, the handles are recessed, but will pop out using the same mechanism if somebody touches them. Much like the Model SX. They also light up.
