This isn't unusual. I'm in Indiana and place an order on 1/17/23 and got a VIN on 3/5/23. It seems that Tesla prioritizes the West and East coasts.

Thank you. The salesperson told me that the waiting time to get the vin number would be only two weeIks. I was not expecting that the salesperson would lie to me. I would have ordered it anyway even if I had to wait a few months.
