Top two reactions to seeing my MS.
a few months ago some one saw my MS pass them in a parking garage. He started jumping up and down, pointing and screaming "A Tesla, I've seen a Tesla!!!!"

and today has to be the best reaction I hope to see over and over again.
As I pulled up to a stop sign. it was funny that all the cars entering the intersection stopped and none proceeded through the intersection. Then I saw her, a beautiful girl wearing a form fitting long dress. She was crossing in front of me from the right. As she got right in front of me, her head started to turn to look at my MS, then down at the License plate, then up at me. She repeated this cycle as she continued to walk. when she was in the middle of the next lane she turned her head to look at the profile of the car, slowing down and almost stopping in the middle of the street to see the car. The smile on her face grew:smile: with every glance she took at me:cool: (or was it the car). As soon as she reached the opposite sidewalk the show was over and the rest of the cars started moving again.
I lingered a few moments more hoping she would come back and ask for a ride.

Loved your story! Made me laugh at the end of a LONG Monday :)

I think we should start a separate thread on the Hawaii Forum - fun and interesting Tesla stories. I'm sure there are a lot of stories to share :)

The funny part is that it is 100% true. and I am not exaggerating about the other cars stopping until she was done crossing in front of me. she was THAT good looking. (or were they looking a my MS too)
I wish I had a forward looking traffic camera installed so I would have proof of what happened.

dsmith2189- I believe you could make some real money selling the name of that intersection to some of us guys on this forum. Great story.

I love those stories. I had a guy run up to my car in Waikiki to ask me to borrow the car. He said that he would pay for the electricity.

I have had looks from a lot of guys and girls, looking at the lines of the car. I have gotten more attention from those around me at work because of the car.

Not exactly related to this discussion (and not sure if this belongs in the good stories thread), but I heard today that Anne Namba (ask your female friend/spouse/companion if you don't know who this is) has a white MS. It's parked outside of her shop in Kakaako.

Got the first call from my Delivery Specialist today. His name was Ciaran - anyone here talked with him before?

I guess Hawaii is getting popular because he said he was newly assigned to Hawaii from Portland a couple of weeks ago. He was really nice and took time to explain and answer all my questions. Also found out a new change is that Hawaii is now eligible for the Tesla financing program and therefore the resale guarantee too! He also mentioned that the reason for the change in the financing was because they finally got everything setup and the SC is official now (it's on the TM site with the address and everything). Next person to visit the SC, say congrats to Barry for me.

I also mentioned some of the hassles we go through to get our cars registered here w/ safety checks vs. buying from a dealership. He said he would look into it and I'm sending him our checklist.

He's estimating my production will be completed on 7/22 and delivery by 8/19, at the earliest.

Starting to get excited.....

I think Mac was the DS for a lot of us.

gmtom1, Ciaran is my Delivery Specialist as well. He is really helpful and responsive. Hopefully, everything goes smoothly for my delivery in the next couple weeks.

For those looking for an alternative for rim repair, I used the following shop:
Alloy wheel Repair Specialists of Hawaii
94-1388 Moaniani St. #322
Waipahu, HI 96797
Tel: 808-391-8633
[email protected]

They charged me $160 for one rim and gave me a break for paying cash.

Everything was great except ONE pretty big thing, so buyer beware. I took pictures of the repair, and noticed that there was a gash in the tire. The technician said his machine presses against the tire to give room for him to work on the damaged rim, and it caused this gash. They didn't disclose it to me, and then brushed it off like it's not a big deal when I brought it up to them, so that was a big minus in the overall experience. If this damage would occur everytime he tries to repair our 21" wheels, of course it would not be recommended, but if it was just a one time mistake then the job on the rim itself is flawless. I can't even tell where the damage was.

Stephen - I've been thinking about doing some rim repairs on our Tesla (the rear passenger wheel just got scraped big time by my dad, SMH) so wanted to get some feedback on how the repair worked out for you and how that tire ended up doing with the gash? How long did the repair take? I'm assuming that they had to take the tire off to do the repair.

in the past I have regaled you with stories of my MS and the fun and interesting things about it.
Today I have a much more somber story that will fill each and every one of you with dread...

I drove out to Kapolei and back today, and was in need of a long recharge. I pulled into my normal haunts to recharge on a public charger.
the parking lot staff recognized me and gave a hearty "hey Ho" to me as I plugged in for my 4:45 long charge.
I retired to my cave and watched some TV and caught up on my TMC reading.

My Tesla MS Phone app was at the ready when I decided to check and see how much time I had left to charge.
to my surprise my mileage had only risen about 17 miles and the app was reporting that my car was UNPLUGGED :cursing: with my charging port open.
upon return to my car I discovered the J1772 plug was back in it's cradle and my J1772 adapter still in my car.
Someone had unplugged my car after only being on the charger for 45 minutes.

was it another EV-er? I doubt it. they could have unplugged it if they need a short charge to get home. but surely they would have restarted me when they were done.
was it a random passer-by? I doubt they would have unplugged me if they just wanted to look at the car.
Even if they did unplug it, they would have replaced the cord back in the J1772 adapter to hide their misguided attempt to see how a socket and plug worked.

that just leaves a despicable person who willfully unplugged me. this evil person must be found and placed in a prison for the criminally insane.:scared:
for the length of time that was lost during the charging session. I now have to make up 4 hours of charging.:cursing:
