Holes in wheel arch liners

PS no drilling required
I bought the same ones and am very happy with the colour match and fit. A few pics (still had the 18” winter wheels/tyres on):

Moderator comment - post merged from "Does anyone know what this hole in the front wing liner is for?"

It seems to serve no purpose and lets in crud and water?

I think that I’m going to tape over the ‘mystery holes’ in the front wheel arch liners. I’ve noticed that the Tesla supplied mud flaps don’t cover this area. As a few have noted, the OEM flaps also seem to collect a lot of road crud due to their design.
