Hotel Charging Station

So we stayed at a Marriott that said it had a charging station, but the plug didn't fit in our Model Y's charge port. Am I missing something obvious?

The obvious is that you need an adapter that adapts their plug to your car. Do a Google search to find one.

The adapter should have been included with your car. Unless you bought used, then the previous owner might have kept it.

Yes--providing us more information, like a description or picture of what kind of charging plug it is, so we can help you. But my guess is that it's probably a J1772 plug, which most low power overnight public charging stations are. So it is as @E90alex said. The adapter for that is included in every Tesla car. It's probably in that "basement" area (the lower bin under your back trunk). It's a black plastic looking adapter that fits in your hand and snaps onto the end of the plug and then fits in the car's port.

Unfortunately some/most chargers use CCS, and the adapter our car comes with is J1772. There is a CCS adapter however you can buy

True, though they do exist. I stayed at a hotel a couple years ago that had 25kw CCS and no J1772, CHAdeMO, or Tesla. I was flabbergasted. I think it might have even been free.

@captainchaos You can check the plug type of most stations at plugshare.com - just put in the address and see the plug type plus what type of car charged there recently. Something I do prior to a roadtrip and to make sure any publicly accessable charging stations are working.
