How does the MY connect to the internet?

Tesla SSO - Sign In

I've read the above about Connectivity. I am paying for the Premium. It mentions cellular, and then at the bottom it mentions local telecommunications company. But beyond that, what other details are there?

Is it 4G? LTE? Verizon/AT&T/etc?

I see an icon for signal strength on the screen, but is that my phone that's paired, or is that Tesla's connectivity strength?

The signal strength on the screen is that of the car’s internal cellular modem. I believe all recent Teslas are LTE equipped, and I believe AT&T is Tesla’s carrier of choice in the US.

That is unfortunate because AT&T works great for me in the Bay Area. I have tried Sprint, Verizon, and T-Mobile and they were all horrible.

I'm lucky that AT&T works well at my place! I've had spotty service with it elsewhere in the SF Bay Area though...

AT&T works pretty well at places I normally go to but at home only verizon has signal. So now when the car goes to sleep the app doesn't wake it unless I unlock and relock the door first...

Is the car on WiFi at home? I think everything goes over WiFi when that’s connected, including controls.

yes, but when it goes to sleep, it cuts off wifi and it would need cell data to wake up. the work around I found is to unlock with the phone first then all the controls work thru wifi.
