Didn't your system go online last week? I am sure people wanna know...
Yeah, got PTO a few weeks ago. Panels and Powerwalls are working great, but there's something screwed up with the power flow measurements/calculations... If I'm off-grid, or on-grid with the solar charging the batteries and the grid powering the house (off-peak conditions), the 4 measurements for solar, Powerwall, grid, and house power are correct.
But as soon as it's peak rates (when theroretically I should be sending all the solar to the grid and running the house off batteries), the system thinks my house is using 4 times the power it's actually using. For example, my Tesla app might show:
- 4kW house load
- 2kW from solar
- 4kW from batteries
- 2kW to grid
But what is
actually happening is:
- 1kW house load (per Emporia Vue)
- 2kW from solar
- 4kW from batteries
- 5kW to grid (per PG&E meter)
While what
should be happening (if the system was working correctly) is:
- 1kW house load (per Emporia Vue)
- 2kW from solar
- 1kW from batteries (just powers the house during peak rates)
- 2kW to grid (all solar goes to grid during peak)
So during peak periods there's all sorts of wrong happening:
- My powerwalls are being drained 4x faster than they should be
- I'm sending 3kW to the grid from the Powerwall (which is actually illegal in CA if you have solar & powerwalls)
OK, I guess it's only 2 sorts of wrong. But it's
really wrong.
It took me an hour on the phone to get Tesla to understand and believe this is happening. Problem has been escalated to "Tier 2" or whatever, but it's been 12 days and the only update I've received is:
This concern has been escalated and sent over for review!
We are still pending complete review, but I wanted to inform you that it has been looked at and sent over!
Time to call again, I guess...
