How Secure Are Teslas/Tesla Thefts

Any numbers for ‘thefts from’?

There was quite a spate of cases in US where rear quarter light panel was being broken and contents of boot accessed. It looked to be trivial to do from some of the videos at the time. Sparked some third party devices to lock the rear seats in place. Not sure if it’s still a thing since the introduction of so called ‘double glazed’ aka laminated side windows - was that front only?

The ONS stats capture the following properties of vehicle theft:
  • Timing (all, theft of, theft from, attempts of/from)
  • Where (similar)
  • Method of entry (similar)
    • Door not locked
    • Window broke/tried
    • Lock forced/tried
    • Key/electric fob
    • Signal manipulated remotely
    • Window left open
    • Forced/broke/bent/prised door
    • Other
  • Stolen vehicles returned to owners
  • Cost of damage
  • Cost of stolen items (theft of, theft from)
  • Emotional impact (all, theft of, theft from, attempts of/from)
  • Perceived seriousness (similar)
  • Age of stolen vehicle
  • Vehicle security precautions on car/van (all, theft of, theft from, attempted theft of/from)
Which is likely why I have no insurer glass coverage this year…

I bought those plastic things that look like air vents, not had the opportunity to fit them. You clean the window and peel off the tape before sticking it to the glass. That was an option to slow the thieves down or possibly deter them.
