I just got a gap checker

I noticed that Sandy Monro uses a gap checker when checking the gaps on cars. I ordered one yesterday from Amazon for about $8 prime and got it today. It really is useful, particularly to check whether, for example, both sides of the front to fender are the same (mine aren't)

When we took delivery of one of our Teslas last year, we found a gap checker on the back seat.

Yeah but just because you have a gap checker doesnt mean they will tell you the "spec" of 3-4mm....it can say 1-10mm is acceptable, you won't get that in writing...

Well SB-20-10-001 says the "spec" for the chargeport door is 1.5mm or less. So there's at least one thing we can measure!

There are several sources out there for panel gap specs, but generally you’ll find 4mm (1/8-3/16”). On the X3 we're replacing for a Y, the median was 4.5mm. The average is a little higher because of some big hood/grille gaps.
