Intermittent Electrical Problem Tesla Can't Fix, 5 Months Left on Warranty

To my knowledge, this had not been mentioned previously. I've tested it more than 10 times, and every time, USB has worked when I woke up the Tesla before getting in. This is a quicker solution than rebooting, which doesn't always work the first time.
It sounds like they changed the wake-up sequence when triggered by opening doors but did not change it for the app triggered case. And somehow it impacts a subset of chips (either fast or slow chips) since majority of the cars are not impacted. Just a theory, of course.
If that turns out to be the case, either they have to change the wake-up sequence again (unlikely), or they have to change your infotainment computer that hopefully comes with a chip from another speed bin. You should push for the latter.

It's unclear how many cars are affected, whether it only happens to Model Y, what model years are involved, and whether it also affects cars with HW4. I knew immediately when I first lost USB because I listen exclusively to music from USB when driving. Owners who don't listen to music on USB -- probably the majority of owners -- might not notice if the USB drive is not recording security events.

It's possible that Tesla service have replaced at least one complaining owner's infotainment computer, but if so, there have been no reports of a satisfactory outcome.

On another thread someone had their computer replaced, it did not help. Our usb ports functioned fine until around 1/2024. It is a software issue and not hardware. Pretty much everyone I talk to is getting an usb device error alert once per day when car wakes first time for the day even if they have no dashcam functionality issues (because they have glovebox usb). This issue seems to be affecting usb ports located in center console storage area & not the glovebox usb. Issue affects model 3/y who have data ability in center usb ports. The center console usb module connects to one specific usb port on the computer. If your car has glovebox usb then, the glovebox usb port gets data ability from a second dedicated usb port on the computer. Model 3/Y Cars built after 11/2021 don’t notice any issues because those cars do not have data ability in center console usb ports.

One solution previously mentioned is to wake the car via Tesla mobile app before getting in to the car as this somehow triggers a more thourough computer wake up process than merely opening the door manually.

My case, Model Y with Intel infotainment computer. I have glovebox usb and center console usb which supports data operations ( model 3/y cars built after 11/2021 have center usb ports which lack data abilities). Anything plugged in to my glovebox usb works fine, no special wake up methodology needed. Once a day an usb device error alert appears in the car alert panel when the car wakes from deeps sleep, for the first time I think it even happens if no usb devices are plugged in. Anything plugged in to center usb port is not detected unless I wake the car using the mobile app before opening the car door.

Brand new model Y here. I get the I/O error messages at random times.

The messages don't come up on the screen but are in the Service menu Notifications.
