Is my Model S the slowest Tesla made in the past two years?

I think our cars really have the perfect amount of acceleration. I wore my tires out in the first 13,000 miles, so I'm glad it's not faster. Now I drive a little more civilized. I don't want to wear out my tires that fast.

The 75 RWDs are dead meat on the resale scale, so might as well just plan to keep it as a really great car for the long term.

Are you sure? How much do you think a one year old MS75 with 13,000 mi could fetch on the resale market? I would think I could get at least $50-$55k for it.

You could have a P85 that is slower than the base Model 75... thankfully I bought mine used, but I’m sure some of the early buyers of the P85 aren’t loving that they could have saved 50%, received longer range, better traction and handling, and would have been just as fast...

P85 is a 3.9 second 0 to 60. I think the only thing faster in the Tesla family is the P85D, P90D, P100D, and maybe the 100D

and it moves into this competition range:

I was talking with a friend the other day that is anxiously waiting for his Model 3 configuration invititation and he made a comment that his Model 3 will be much faster than my 18 month old Model S (0-60 mph). He also said that I own the slowest Tesla of any model manufactured during the past two years. I thought that he was wrong but I it seems that he might be right. I own a 2016 mid-year refreshed Model S75 RWD. I believe the 0-60 mph time is around 5.6 seconds. My understanding is that Model 3’s are about a full second faster to 60 mph. Model X and S dual motor vehicles can be “uncorked” to shave around a second off the 0-60 time putting them in the mid 4 second range. RWD Model S and X vehicles manufactured a little later than mine also can be “uncorked” to also put them in the 4 second range. Do I have my facts right and is my 18 month old Model S slower than all recently made Tesla vehicles including the lower priced Model 3?
S75 RWD sold after July 2017 (and manufactured at the end of June 2016) are uncorked with a rated 0-60mph time of 4.3 seconds (before they were discontinued). S75 RWD sold before July 2017 have a rated 0-60 time of 5.5 seconds. It's supposedly due to a new drive unit (often labeled DU01). The 75D models sold after July 2017 were sold with a drive unit labeled as DU00 (which might not have actually been any new hardware after all), but it turns out that just software alone allowed the majority of S75D models sold before July 2017 to be performance "uncorked" down from 5.2 seconds for 0-60mph to 4.2 seconds. The Model 3 LR has a rated 0-60mph time of 5.1 seconds. Tesla has been pretty secretive about the differences in this new "DU01" drive unit, but thus far they have been unwilling to "uncork" any S75 RWD vehicles sold pre-July 2017.

The S75 RWD received numerous changes over the 12 months before it was discontinued, including AP1->AP2->AP2.5, power liftgate/ SAS/ LED turning lights becoming standard, newer seat design to the Premium seats, leather being replaced by vegan material, software limited 60 going away with 75 becoming standard, and the new performance drive unit. Tesla is the only auto manufacturer to make this many changes so frequently. Unfortunately it makes timing a purchase of a Tesla impossible, unless you keep delaying and never end up driving a Tesla. It would have been awesome if the S75 RWD had at least been given some sort of performance uncork to be on par with the 75D (heck even the X75D are faster than the S75 RWD), but that's just one of the cons of owning a Tesla.

On paper, it sounds like I really got screwed, but when I’m driving my car it feels totally awesome. Now that I’m thinking about selling it, I hope I don’t end up feeling screwed by the depreciation hit. I just wonder how many buyers really worry about 0-60 times. If I can get at least $50,000 I’ll be happy. Any takers out there?
