Is Supercharging like getting free lunch? Vs gas stations?

I'm hoping that CA invests more in solar and electricity prices will go down. Maybe that'll allow Tesla to reduce the prices of SC in the future.

By the time you see prices going down with a statist monopoly, then you have much bigger problems than whatever commodity said monopoly is selling. In other words, it will never happen in CA, unless the economy collapses.

Prices for electricity will go down. It's not a matter of if it's a matter of when.

There's nothing stopping Tesla from generating it's own electricity for the SC. They already produce solar panels and storage. Look at what they were able to build in Australia.

Actually, there's probably a lot keeping Tesla from generating electricity on-site for most Supercharger stations. In particular, the problem is that they're located on somebody else's property, so they would need additional space for battery packs and enough solar panels to make it worthwhile.

Yeah, that's a good point about the SC being on others property.

But electricity cost will go down once utilities companies adopt cheaper sources of electricity like solar.

Solid answer! There's nothing in that article about Tesla producing electricity or it becoming cheaper, which was your assertion.
Tesla's Battery Has Already Saved South Australia a Huge Amount of Money | Inverse

Tesla has made electricity at lot cheaper in South Australia. So could easily happen in Northern CA where it's been approved to build a similar project.

You said it'll never happen. For your statement to be correct electricity has to remain the same or get more expensive until the end of time.

To be fair, PG&E has to pay for that fire damage somehow.

PG&E isn't going to be paying for the fire damage forever. I'm sure they have some level of insurance, and the CA will probably also bail them out.

My point is that technology can reduce the cost of electricity by finding more efficient ways to reduce the cost. No reason why solar technology can't be developed to accomplished this. The biggest thing to figure out is storage and there are feasible solutions to that in development already.

One of the reason why electricity is so expensive in CA is that we don't produce enough. We waste a lot of money importing it from other states.
