Micro Inverters--something new to ask about! We have a phone consult shortly so have plenty of questions. Thanks again for sharing your setups.
Yes, micro is great in that each panel will output differently depending on a number of things. Most interesting to watch the production from sunrise to sunset on a clear day.
At times they all produce the same, then it varies depending on shading, what have you. Even when there is no shading, perhaps a reflecting surface.
One general inverter will average or combine, so I am told, and not deliver all the power available to it.

Got a lot of questions answered during our 1-hour conference call with our Tesla Energy contact this afternoon. He seems very knowledgeable about the product, installation and our local City requirements. Everyone's feedback here has been very helpful in formulating what questions to ask. Based on our area and permitting he thinks if we go into contract now we'd be finished in March. That would be great in that we'd have some credit established by summer/fall A/C usage time.

One thing I learned that I'll pass on to anyone new to the process is that when you select your solar panel configuration, we went with the medium 7.56 kW solar panels (24 panels), they can't customize the number of panels. We decided we'd rather the panels be only on our side and rear roof sections and not any on the front if possible. So the design team is now looking at reconfiguring our layout to use 2 sides of our roof as opposed to 3, although it might end up with a less uniform look on the rear -- mixed orientation (which may not be objectionable to us). We thought maybe we could move one or two panels from the front and just leave off the third if it couldn't fit elsewhere, but we apparently need to use all 24 panels or go to a smaller system--which we don't want to do. If that 2nd layout option doesn't work for us, we are then looking at removing a solar roof fan that has stopped working and repairing the roof there (Note: this would have to be done with a third party contractor we'd have to hire and do in advance). He felt confident however that we could fit those extra panels on the side roof if we did so. So we're not there yet but getting really close. Another conference call tomorrow to look over layout Option 2.

Oh and he felt confident they could run the conduit between panels near the gutter and down and under our roof eaves to connect together, eventually reaching the panel box. This would be a conduit run from the eave down the side of our two-story stucco house's side wall to the panel with the conduit painted to match the roof, eaves, and wall color. Given this conduit installation it won't be necessary to gain access to the attic for us.
